Smoking vs. Physical Inactivity

A recent study shows that physical inactivity compares to smoking in how bad it is for us. What? Did I just type that?

Yes. Someone who is physically inactive, meaning they don’t perform moderate physical activity for at least 150 minutes per week, is just as dangerous to ones health as smoking cigarettes.

The study also found that physical inactivity contributes an average of 6-10% of diseases such as: coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, breast cancer and colon cancer.

What do should we do then? Get active! Start slow if you need to. Take a 30 minute walk each day, go for a bike ride, or play tag with your kids.

Who are we?

Hippocrates said, "If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health."

Dr. Ronald Davis, then president of the American Medical Association, posed the following question to fellow colleagues, "If you learned that a single prescription could prevent and treat dozens of diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, would you prescribe it to your patients?"

We at Exercise Solutions adhere to the advice of Dr. Davis, exercise is that miracle prescription and we prescribe the individualized correct dose needed to elicit a health benefit.
